Most jobs that require only a certification require upgrades on that education more and more often as time goes on. The economy may shift up and down, and the needs of the world will change. But have you ever heard of an MBA or an economist becoming irrelevant? Of course not! No matter what changes in the world, if you decided to study for an economics degree, an MBA, or another graduate, law school, or PhD level degree, you will always have that degree to support your knowledge.
- When you study for an economics degree, or other higher degree, you’ll be changing your outlook and circumstances, and those of the people you love. First generation college students are an inspiration to family members.
- A college degree can qualify you for any number of jobs. When you have a specialized skill set, you may only be able to qualify for a small subset of jobs in the market. But when you have a bachelors degree or other higher degree you will be able to obtain employment in areas that are even outside of your general area of expertise. This is because of the other skills and leadership understanding you gain from obtaining a degree.
- When you study for an economics degree, you are more likely to take care of your finances in a responsible manner. This means that you will be able to better manage your money, stay out of debt, and make wise choices for your future.
- Individuals who study for an economics degree or another higher degree are more likely to vote and to accept their civic responsibility (volunteering, etc.) than those individuals who choose not to go to college.
- You’ll have greater self-esteem. Over time, multiple reports have indicated that individuals who obtain a higher degree are more likely to have the self –esteem required to hold down a high paying job, climb the career ladder, pursue home ownership, and make the other changes that lead to a life well lived.
If you’re considering whether or not to pursue a higher degree, it’s time to recognize that when you study for an economics degree or other higher degree, it’s about more than just landing a good job. You’ll be making changes to last a lifetime.
