The New Year is barely a week old, but it seems that a number of us have decided to try and make changes. Sticking to them is pretty difficult, especially as many will have so much on their plate they forget to make those life-altering lifestyle changes, but some resolutions have proven to be pretty popular if the results of a recent survey are anything to go by.
The survey, conducted amongst thousands of people throughout the UK, asked what they wanted to change, give up or start doing in 2014. The top answer in the survey was doing some more exercise, something 91% said they would do. 89% said they wanted to eat better, while 87% said they hoped to cut down on alcohol consumption.
On a health kick
Following the inevitable Christmas binge, it’s understandable that many people will want to get into shape. This will mean cutting back on fatty foods, going to the gym, doing exercise at home and perhaps kicking a few unhealthy habits like binge drinking into touch. Other habits were also mentioned in the survey, one of which related to something just as damaging as alcohol.
11% of people said one of their resolutions was to give up smoking for good. Aside from being unhealthy, smoking cigarettes can be seen as an expensive habit to take up. Saving money in general was another popular resolution, something 79% said they would like to do at least over the next 12 months.
Taking positive steps
James Dunworth a Managing Director and Co-Founder of E Cigarette Direct said: “New Year is traditionally the time when we take a long hard look at our bad habits from the past 12 months and vow to do things better.
“While many of us decide to get more exercise and cut down on our bad habits, many others take positive steps to improve their lives by learning new skills or even changing their job or partner.
“There are many people who are planning to make such changes right now. It seems they are simply waiting to get Christmas out of the way before they turn their lives around.”
