Jobs are totally last century. We now live in a “gig” sort of economy, where there are more than 20 million people in the US alone who make their living as full-time ‘independent contractors’, ‘consultants’, and ‘freelancers’, as well as a few other code words for people who don’t have a traditional job. It is true that the Great Recession was responsible for forcing many people to find work of a freelance nature, but more than half of us actively choose this “jobless” lifestyle that has no bosses, no cubicles, no time clocks, and much less stress.
Let’s take a look at some of the things that you can do to make a living without having to have a traditional job.
Ethereum
Ethereum mining is a bit like bitcoin mining in that it uses a blockchain technology. The word mining originated in context of using a gold analogy when it comes to cryptocurrency. See, gold is a precious and scarce commodity, and so are the digital tokens such as Bitcoin and Ether. The only way to increase the amounts of it is to mine it. This is quite appropriate with regards to Ether, because the only way to get more of it once it has been launched is through the mining of it. This is how you secure the network by first creating and verifying, and then publishing and propagating the blocks in the blockchain.
Start a Business
This doesn’t need to be anything that is too difficult. You can start a business simply by selling your services. With social media, we all have our own brand. If you are looking for a way to make a living without having to hold down a traditional job, you need to find out what your unique skill set it and then develop and market it. You might be the best turkey caller in 3 counties, but you won’t be tracking down those turkeys for any hunters unless they are able to find you. There are all sorts of web sites where you will be able to market your skills and get clients. You might even consider making your own web site or starting a blog so that you will be able to get a good Google ranking and be found by even more people.
Sell Your Stuff
Your grandpa might have had a fantastic baseball card collection that was passed down to you. You might have a basement that is chock full of vintage beer advertisements in mint condition. You might have had a daughter who was crazy about American Girl dolls. One of the simplest ways to make money without having to have a traditional job is to sell things. With sites such as Amazon Marketplace, eBay, and Craigslist, the entire world can be your garage sale.
Test Web Sites
Yes, this is a real thing. So that they can test the user – friendliness and functionality of theirs web sites, there are a lot of businesses that will pay people just to visit their site and test the variety of functionalities of it. The thing is, it is very difficult to find businesses on your own to do this for. However, you don’t need to be discouraged because there are sites like Usertesting that will find them for you. It is free to sign up and when there is a new site that needs to be tested, they will let you know.
Blog It
If there happens to be anyone out there who is not familiar with a blog, it is basically when you write things for your own site. This could be things like commentary, reviews, recipes, articles, and more. You can kind of think of it like you will be furnishing all of the contents of your very own newspaper. Whether you know it or not, blogging can be something that is great for making money. In years past, it was difficult to get a blog going because it was harder to get a domain that would host it. Now, however, there are sites that are dedicated to blogs, like WordPress. This has made it much easier to get started and start making money.
