Even though it’s the middle of September, the weather has been great here in Southern California. It’s actually been almost too hot, with temperatures close to 100 degrees last week. When I played golf the other day it was 95 degrees out, way too hot; plus I don’t like to sweat when I’m playing golf. I figured the heat would let up this week though, since I finally broke down and got my A/C tuned up last weekend for $245. Since then, the temperature has steadily been decreasing, figures.
I’m still trying to decide if it’s worth it to get the iPhone 5 or not. I was pretty disappointed with what they unveiled. I’m not sure what I was expecting but I was hoping there would be some new feature that would wow me. At $200 plus $50 in taxes(what the heck’s up with that?) plus a 2 year contract, I’m not sure if it’s worth it. I have my jailbroken iPhone 4 so my phone already has a lot of the features that the new iPhone 5 has. Did anyone else notice that most of the new iPhone 5 features were solely software updates and not hardware? I’m thinking about switching to a Samsung S3, so I’d love to hear anyone’s opinion on the matter.
Work hasn’t been too busy this summer so I’ve had plenty of time to work on the blog and develop some relationships with other bloggers. And speaking of iPhones, I even had time to submit a guest post on Modest Money: How My Credit Card’s Purchase Protection Plan Saved My iPhone 4. Check it out!
I’ve read some really great articles over the past couple weeks too so I thought I’d share a few:

If you’re in doubts about the iphone5, don’t bother. Then again that’s coming from someone whose phone cost less than $100 with no contract. With how often they seem to be releasing new versions, you can just wait until next year for the iphone6 which would probably be more of an upgrade. Anyways, enjoy your weekend and thanks for the mention.

Well I know I definitely like having a smart phone. The jump from the 3 to the 4 was huge, but 4 to 5 not so much. Ever since Jobs passed, I haven’t been too impressed with Apple..

Thanks for the mention! Whereabouts are you in SoCal? My in-laws live in San Diego and they’ve been complaining about the heat as well. We’re in the Midwest, and it’s just been horrible this summer…67 days straight without rain and last year we were flooding.
In regards to the iPhone 5, I am sure my wife is going to want it. I have a Droid and she’s on it a fair bit as she does not have a smart phone. Our contracts are up in January, so I am certain we’ll be getting it for her. From what I hear the S3 is the way to go, so I may just have to go for that as I am not a fan of Apple.

I’m in San Diego too, I’ve been taking advantage by going to the beach a lot after work so I guess I can’t complain too much.
Yea my gf wants the iPhone 5, but I think I’m ready to make a switch. I’m starting to like Apple less and less. I really don’t like the fact that you have to pay $100 for 16gb of memory, wth? You can get that for $10 haha

Thanks for the mention. I say go with the S3. I have an SII Skyrocket and love it!

Thanks, I’m gonna go and try it out this weekend in the store 🙂

Thanks for including our post! Love the beach picture, by the way.
Mr. PoP is headed over to the Apple store right now to check out the new iPhones, but we just got ours last year, so no upgrades for a couple years.
I’m actually even a little hesitant to download the new iOS as the reviews I’ve heard of the Apple maps aren’t that positive and I use google maps so often on my phone.
Good luck!

No problem, one of my favorite articles 🙂 That’s north pacific beach in San diego btw at sunset(last weekend). I actually took it with my iphone 4.
I heard the maps app is a little messed up but I’m sure they’ll get it figured out soon. I’ll probably wait a bit til they figure everything out with ios6 before upgrading.

I heard some people even got paid to wait in line overnight or even for days to buy the phone for someone else. The demand for this phone is so high. I don’t have a smart phone yet, but I’m thinking about getting the S3 because I’ve seen some of the glitches on the iOS 6 maps, lol not very useful. Thanks for sharing the link btw. Hope you had a great weekend.
Harry Campbell says
Wow I didn’t know about that, but I would probably wait in line if someone paid me enough haha. Most people I talk to aren’t that impressed, but they’re still buying it like there’s no tomorrow.
The maps definitely has some glitches, but I’m not sure why they didn’t release a beta version. I do hope they improve that function though, because turn by turn directions is definitely lacking on google maps.

Thanks so much for the inclusion this week. I really appreciate the support. My husband is looking at the iphone 5 right now. His other phone is almost dead. It seems to have quite a few features but like with any Apple product, price isn’t in our favour.

Yea I know what you mean. I’ve seen the S3 as low as $99 for a refurbished version. I think I’ve decided to switch permanently 🙂 Just gotta pull the trigger and buy the S3 now.
