Within the next several years, studies have proven that over 200 million additional consumers will decide to shop online for products and services, according to Mashable.com. Unless you have some other effective way to unlock an untapped market of over 200 million prospective customers and clients, then you should take the necessary steps now to enhance the efficiency of your eCommerce business and company website.
Make Your Website Mobile-Friendly
Studies have confirmed that mobile eCommerce sales are also on the rise, growing exponentially faster than standard eCommerce sales. This is primarily because of the overabundance of consumers that use their mobile devices frequently throughout the day for the additional advantages of convenience and mobility. Recent reports have proven that over 80 percent of the consumers that own mobile devices will use them to shop around for competitive pricing while they are window-shopping at traditional brick-and-mortar stores.
Capitalize on the Power of online Money Transaction providers
Even though there are quite a few online payment providers that are currently available for eCommerce businesses to use, a couple of them have been able to emerge as one of the most popular choices over the years. There is an abundance of widgets and applications available that can connect these online payment providers directly to your company’s website and social media brand page. The more renowned ones even allow their business members to use integrated point of sales software in order to provide them with the same level of efficiency as most POS terminals in traditional stores.
Stay Connected to Your Customers
Before social media platforms eventually evolved into effective marketing tools for millions of businesses around the world, there was not a clear-cut way for customers to get connected to the upper management teams, and even for owners of companies, on a real-time basis. Escalated e-mail correspondence, automated voicemail messages, snail mail letters and feedback forms were some of the best ways to get your point across. However, popular websites such as Facebook and Twitter allow customers to reach out and have their voices heard almost immediately.
On the other hand, businesses can take full advantage of this same connection by making sure that they stay connected to their customers and clients through their social media profiles. If you want to eliminate the effectiveness of your company’s Facebook brand page, for instance, then use it exclusively to advertise upcoming sales and promotions. Eventually, your customers will tune out your Facebook postings subconsciously the same way that they tune out your traditional commercials and advertisements. Stand out in their minds by personally connecting and interacting with them online in order to keep them engaged and interested.
The Bottom Line
Track All Your Accounts With Personal Capital

There is an extensive list of benefits and advantages that can be enjoyed and experienced by eCommerce business owners, which is why there are so many people and professionals that are searching for ways to join this emerging market. However, using these tips will allow you to step up your business and become even more efficient and successful.
Thanks for the article, Mr. Campbell. My company has been in business since 2000 and I, too, have seen the steady growth of online eCommerce’s influence. Unfortunately, I’ve also experienced the extra work this entails. Without even going into the learning curve inherent in all this “innovation,” I find there are plenty of extra man-hours going into maintaining social networks and trying to keep customers happy by replying as quickly and satisfactorily as possible.
New customers as well as long time clients have started to expect 24 hour (or close to) service which is nearly impossible as a sole proprietor with one secretary.
Competing with prices has never been an issue because of my particular niche; however, the “instant gratification” expectation is hard to compete against.
No problem Roberto and I know what you mean. Have you started looking into VA’s or anything like that? They can really help out with a lot of the more standard tasks and of course if you have the budget you can hire some better people. A business can only grow a finite amount when there’s one person at the helm, eventually you have to hire help if you want to continue growing.
Another idea to make your online store to stand out from the crowd would be to offer video reviews of the products, since people like to view all aspects of a product, before they make a purchase.
