Many people need extra money in their budgets from time to time. I did a couple of years ago, and that led me to freelance writing and virtual assistant work to pay down debt. Eventually it grew enough to let me quit my full time job and work from home.
Of course, not everyone wants to start that kind of side hustle to help pay their bills. Your tastes, as well as knowledge and skill set, are probably different from mine. That’s why it’s great that there are tons of side hustles you can do to make extra money.
1. Get Paid to Shop
Did you know you can make extra money doing other people’s shopping? Those who are physically impaired or lack time will often pay you well to do this task for them.
You can do this on your own or go through another company such as instacart or Walmart. Some grocery stores are jumping on the concept and hiring personal shoppers as well.
2. Wrap Gifts
If you love to wrap gifts, and are fast, you can make extra money doing it for others. Just buy a few supplies and advertise on Facebook and other social media avenues. You could also talk to store owners in your area to ask for referrals.
3. Bake and Cater
Having a knack for cooking and baking can be a real asset, and a money maker, during the holidays. You can bake sweet treats and other goodies and wrap them in pretty packaging as gifts.
To get the word out, let family, co-workers, and friends try samples of what you make. Take pictures with good lighting and a clean, clutter free, tasteful background and advertise over the internet. You’ll be raking in the dough in no time flat.
4. Shovel Snow
Once the snow begins falling, one of the side hustles you can do is to shovel it. Offer to clear snow from the porches, side-walks, and driveways of others for an hourly fee. Some businesses will even hire you so they can attend to customers while you remove snow.
5. Drive People Around
Another side hustle you can use to increase your income is to drive people around like The Rideshare Guy. He has lots of advice and instruction on how to get started using your car to earn more money.
6. Clean Homes and Businesses
You might be able to clean houses or businesses for others to ease financial strain. It’s a good way to make extra money all year long and can be started at any time.
7. Decorate Houses
Do you love to decorate for the holidays? Why not turn that into a way to make a little extra money? Let people know they can hire you to decorate their homes both indoors and out.
8. Babysit for Others
Even if you work or attend school full time you can babysit during the evenings or on weekends. This lets you earn more money to meet expenses and pay down debt.
9. Sew, Mend, and Tailor
With a good sewing machine and the right skillset you could earn money fixing the wardrobe misfortunes of others. Just put the word out and you’re sure to get plenty of business and extra money.
10. Complete Surveys
An easy way to score additional cash is to fill out surveys. Most are fairly quick to fill out but you can make some money to add to your budget.
The bottom line is that there are many different side hustles you can do to make extra money. Sure, some side hustles are seasonal and others require more physical activity. Regardless, if you really want to make money, consider your knowledge and skills and put them to work for you.

As long as you are getting your bills paid, and are kind, it doesn’t matter if you are the janitor or the CFO! I’ve worked as a waitress and also as a maid at a hotel. But I also worked in administration at two different hospitals. I always said hello to the CEO as well as the cooks and housekeeping staff! In other words, I wasn’t “better” than anyone else or “too good” to say hello to them and be kind. Keep working hard, keep kindness and gladness in your heart, and you’ll get there!

Well, most of these tips won’t be applicable in my country. Ironically, my friend has just asked me to assist her in setting up a cleaning business for homes and businesses. Great confirmation was given here. Thanks for sharing.

That’s actually a great side hustle to earn extra money. My mom used to do that when I was a kid. It was hard work after having already worked all day long, but it sure helped pay the bills!
