Kid activities don’t just stop when the summer ends and school begins. Often they just shift what activities they are doing and the time at which they do them. With the holidays coming down the line quickly, saving money is a good idea. Before you enroll your children into something new this fall, consider these tips for saving money on kid’s activities.
Teen Teachers
When looking for various activities such as learning a different language or piano lessons, consider looking at your local teens for help. Teens can be a great resource for those beginning students. Reaching out to the teens will help you keep the cost lower and give the teen experience as a teacher and entrepreneurship. You can almost choose a different teacher down the road when your child reaches the teen’s teaching limits, it happens with professionals too.
Online Teachers
Since the beginning of Covid the call for online schooling has exploded. Special interests are not different. This site in particular has so many different classes for so many interests it might blow your mind. The advantage to this set up is the commitment. They have camp style classes that run for one week, or they have monthly classes. There is no commitment to stay the whole semester. This gives you and your children the freedom to try different activities that pique their interest.
Local Co-ops
Many homeschoolers know about co-ops and they wealth of knowledge they can be. Don’t worry if you’re not a homschooler because there may be a co-op just right for you! Take a look at your local Facebook pages or do a web search for co-ops near you. You can look in general or specifically for the activity you’re looking for. Often these are group activities and one or more teachers that combine their skills to offer different classes.
City Parks & Recreation
Lastly, consider reaching out to your local city’s park and recreation office for a list of activities they’re putting on throughout the year. We have our daughter in ballet through the city. The fee was much less than the dance studios around town. They will be doing a Christmas recital like the others usually do and they meet weekly. They also offer tap, jazz, and hip hop. If you’re an adult looking for activities to do, I would also suggest this option. Our local city has many options for adults as well.
Conclusion
As we head back to school the activities we send our kids to shift to fit our school hours better. Before signing up your kids, or even yourself, for various activities consider these budget friendly options. These options will not only help your budget and your child, they will help those local to you and entrepreneurs.
